Easy Steps to Promote Your Web Site
Step
1 Download The Software
First we need to download some software that will
allow you to create the necessary files. I will assume
you have a webpage editor since you are trying to
get your website listed on the search engines. The
second piece of software you will need is called
RSS Feed For All.
The download URL is
http://www.feedforall.com/download.htm
This is a free trial version. There are others out
there that are 100% free, but this one is very easy
to use and gives good results. Save it to your hard
drive and install it. Once you install it you are
ready to continue.
Now you have all the software needed, a webpage
editor and RSS Feed For All, time to get working
now.
Step
2 Create the Content
Now you can spend hours and hours writing articles
for your new RSS feed. But I am going to show you
how to get the content on your RSS feed for free.
You can find hundreds of free articles to place in
your RSS feed for free by going to
http://www.ezinearticles.com/
They have a category for almost everything. Once
you find a few good articles load up your RSS Feed
For All software.
When it first loads it will ask if you want to use
the wizard. Select yes to this option, it makes life
much easier.
Then click next. The next window will ask you for
the title of your feed. You want this to be descriptive.
For example if you are selling dish network satellites,
your title could be Free Dish Network Satellite.
Or anything related to your product.
Then click next.
The next window will ask for your page description.
Make sure you write at least 3 sentences about your
product/service. This will result in better results.
Then click next.
The next window will ask for a link. This is the
link to your website or affiliate link. Enter your
URL and click next.
Item introduction is where you list the articled
you found from ezinearticles.com
First you give the article a good title, this should
be something different than your main title. Then
click next.
The description for your item will be an article
from ezinearticles.com. You will want to add your
URL in the article to get better results.
Then click next.
You will be able to add more items. I would recommend
adding about 5 articles to start with.
Then you want to save your feed somewhere on your
hard drive. You are now ready to continue to the
next step.

Step
3 Upload Your Data Feed
This is the easiest step. All you need to do is
upload your saved file to your web server or host.
Then remember the URL that you uploaded it to,
example would be your.com/data/myfeed.rss or something
along those lines depending on how you upload it.
Step 4 Get Attention!
Ok so now we have all the steps in place. You
have a custom RSS feed, you uploaded it to your
server, now all you need to do is show people where
to find you!
The most important search engine you need to tell
is Yahoo. Yahoo will get you traffic from many
sources. To add your new RSS feed to Yahoo do this:
Enter your website feed at the end of this link
below.
http://api.my.yahoo.com/rss/ping?u=http://
For example if your feed was at http://www.Google.com/rssfeed.xml
your link to yahoo would look like
http://api.my.yahoo.com/rss/ping?u=http://www.Google.com/rssfeed.xml
This will tell Yahoo to go to your site and update
their records. They will go to your feed every
12 hours or so using this method!
You will also need to do something similar to
get listed with MSN.
Here is the URL for MSN
http://api.moreover.com/ping?u=http://
Of course do the same thing and replace the http://
with your actual feed URL.
