Do you long to see which websites your friends enjoy? Well, Google is making it possible, thanks to a new +1 button that somewhat akin to Facebook’s ubiquitous Like. Google touts the feature as a means of increasing the relevance of a Google search, a sort of personal seal of approval from friends that will help people judge the value of a site, according to the Los Angeles Times. Users with Google accounts will see a +1 show up next to a link in search results. If the user clicks the button, Google will publicly share that preference with friends or contacts.

Likewise, a user’s Google results will also display which of her friends has clicked +1 for a site. The tool may prove useful for navigating the web, either for gleaning friends’ advice, or avoiding it.
