These never-before-seen images are from Prince Charles’s personal collection and will be screened on TV tonight as part of a touching tribute to the Queen.
Throughout the programme, the prince shares memories of his beloved ‘Mama’ – such as the time she came to watch him at a school sports day and how she prepared for her Coronation in 1953.
‘I remember my Mama coming up when we were being bathed as children, wearing the crown,’ the Prince said.
‘It was quite funny – practising.’
He also shares some of his own personal memories during the documentary, such as his parents visiting him on a school sports day in 1957, and rehearsing for his investiture as the Prince of Wales in 1969.
And Charles praises the 86-year-old’s ‘amazing devotion, dedication and commitment’, as well as the high regard with which she is held by other world leaders.
‘I just think the sheer number of heads of state who are coming to the Jubilee celebrations shows the respect and affection with which my Mama is held all around the world,’ he said.
A Jubilee Tribute to the Queen by the Prince of Wales will be on BBC1 at 8pm.
